DXA bone density scans

The DXA bone density scan is an internationally established standard.

This is a demo image

Due to its extremely low X-radiation there is no danger for the patient. The exam takes about ten minutes and there is no special preparation needed on the patient’s part. Results are available immediately after the scan and will then be discussed.

Osteoporosis – also known as bone decalcification or atrophy – means a decrease of the density of the bones. The lower the content of calcium salts in the bones, the more frequent are fractures.

The risk of osteoporosis increases with age. Therefore, the scan is highly recommended for women from 50 and men from 60 years of age.

There is a state-of-the-art DXA scan device (Hologic Explorer) at our patients’ disposal at our practice.
